LIFTING SPIRITS

Once upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered weak and weary,

I could think of nothing more

than having a surprise come through my door.

Perhaps it would be a wonderful gift or a check for a mil.

Yet I sat there ever so quiet and quieter still

Until I realized that sitting in my chair

Would bring me nothing but despair.

Therefore I arose and crept so softly on my toes,

Into my kitchen where a thought arose.

I have red wine which will make me feel fine

So pouring myself a nice tall glass

I returned to my chair, but alas

No surprises did arrive, but my spirits did come alive
